This latest initiative is an invitation to explore fresh opportunities to collaborate as individuals, communities, and institutions. An abundance of community and neighborhood gardens has emerged in recent years (check out the map). With new neighborhood initiatives and a large educational garden in the works, its a good opportunity to explore ways to share resources, ideas, and support in a manner that benefits everyone involved.
The intention is not to launch a new organization, but to identify specific opportunities to work together and grow community as well as food. Tours, work parties, access to volunteers, and workshops represent some of the possibilities for reinforcing existing efforts and encouraging new ones. email hidden; JavaScript is required if you have questions or want to get involved but can’t attend the Open Space.
Local models of garden networks:
- Common Ground (Kalamazoo) (sign-up for a workshop on “Growing Community Gardens; Leading and Feeding“)
- Elkhart Local Food Alliance
- Unity Gardens (South Bend)
The Open Space event promoted below will help kick-start the process in Goshen. More than just a chance to network and share ideas, it’ll put the pieces in place to take action. Click below for more information about Open Space Technology:
